I'm writing this from Gundersen Lutheran's waiting room. My Grandpa is in the CCU again and he's not doing very well at all. He was in BRF Friday night, then was transferred to GL yesterday. He's been having little heart attacks over the last few days. He's on a Nitro drip, an Amiodorone drip, a Lasix drip, and a Heparin drip. He keeps having runs of PVC's and V-tach as well. They had talked about trying to do a cardiac cath tomorrow to see if maybe they could put a few stents in, but have decided that because of how hard the dye is on the kidneys and how weak he is that doing that is not an option anymore. His kidney's are hardly functioning as it is. They have also talked about putting him on dialysis, but I don't know if he's strong enough for that either. We had a family care conference with the Palliative Care Dr. tonight and she strongly suggested we go the route of hospice. We also finally got him to sign a DNR, which was something he had been very opposed to in the past. I think he realizes just how serious this is. I'm so glad I can be here for my family, but I also really hate being the one that knows whats going on. I'm full of questions for all the nurses and Dr's constantly asking about lab levels and why they are and aren't doing things. I'm spending the night down here with my aunt and my cousin. I'm hoping to maybe get a little bit of sleep, but I doubt it will happen.
I will update again when I know more. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. I feel like I've spend most of it crying. Between reading updates from Kendra's website and this it's been a very sad Christmas. It really never even felt like Christmas this year. Some how I just didn't really get into it.

Rochelle,
Sorry to hear you are having such a rotten time this Christmas. I hope things improve soon for your Grandpa or at least that if it is his time, he will have a peaceful passing. My prayers are with you and your family during this time. If you need a break, give us a call, Becca would love a playdate.
Take care,
Susan
